Upgrading Camp

The camp has been very full over the winter, with over 20 residents, so the building of new living spaces has been a priority. There is a new treehouse, a bender and a caravan - "Unity" - donated by the Unitarian Church in Glasgow.

The other major priority has been to get more of site wheelchair accessible by widening paths and making handles etc for the flushing toilet. This is a slow and ongoing process hindered by large quantities of rain and mud and more rain and more mud but by the summer it will be a shining example of accessible peace camps and the council will not possibly be able to evict such a unique and wonderful creation.

We also have plans to scrap Bag End, the oldest and leakiest caravan on site and turn the space into a new communal, kitchen, library etc. Plans for a long house have been scuttled due to a greater interest being shown in building defences for the site but the campaign by the pro-long-house lobby is not over.

We're working towards the 20th century again with aspirations for that strange substance electricity to be brought on site. Research is being done into the whereabouts of the long-lost wind generator and other sources of electrical energy (other than our firm, trim, thighs) are also being arranged. We are soon to have some lovely deep-cycle batteries and a debate over what to power with them.
